(IRNA) The disciplinary committee of the Persian Gulf Football League of Iran handed Player-coach Ali Daei a 4 game suspension.

The committee decided that the suspension was justified following video evidence in which Daei attempted to head butt Shays Rezaei, Perspolis defender last Friday in their Round 20 match which ended in a 2-2 draw. Rezaei was suspended for one game for his part in provoking Daei.

Daei told the reporters that the decision is the extremely unfair and uncalled for. However, he admitted there is little he can do in response.

Ultimately, this action adds more drama to the last 10 rounds of the league play. Saipa, under Daei's guidance has led the league for months, but in recent weeks has seen its superior lead over Esteghlal Tehran to disappear. Esteghlal with on game in hand is only 5 points behind the leaders and more run of bad results by Saipa, in absence of their top scorer would surly see Esteghlal taking the lead.

Saipa is set to face Abu Moslem for its next game, while Esteghlal will play Malavan.
