Popular Tehran soccer team Esteqlal has been defeated by Hamadan's Pas to taste its first defeat with a new coach.

In front of more than 35,000 fans Esteqlal lost the game 1-0 at Azadi Stadium.

In this match Firouz Karimi, the former trainer of Esteqlal-e-Ahvaz, coached the Tehran-based team.

The only goal of the day came from Amir Akucha, who scored in the first half ensuring his team gained the full three points in league standing for the match.

In the 15th week of the Iranian Premier League, Esteqlal stands in 9th place in the 18-team grouping.
