Posted on Thursday, December 6 2007 The Iranian Football Federation (IFF) has agreed to respond in two days to FIFA and AFC's concerns over the upcoming IFF elections.
In a Tuesday meeting in Kuala Lumpur, FIFA and the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) voiced their strong opposition to the candidacy of members of Iran's Physical Education Organization (PEO) in the IFF presidential elections.
However, FIFA and AFC have agreed to have PEO officials become members of the IFF General Assembly.
A delegation from the IFF Transitory Committee and PEO will return to the Malaysian capital in two days with a decision on the issue, AFC said in a statement.
The IFF postponed its presidential elections, originally scheduled for December 6, after FIFA said it would not recognize the result.
The IFF is keen to elect a new president as soon as possible so a national team coach can be hired ahead of 2010 World Cup qualifiers starting in February.
