Perspolis back to winning ways

(Irankicks) League leaders Perspolis Tehran celebrated first win since Round 4 by defeating Pas Hamedan 2-1. Perspolis took the field match with four changes in its starting line-up, which included first appearences by international goalkeeper Roudbarian and the Cameroonian midfielder Jacque Elong.

The Reds fell behind in the 19th minute when a scramble at the mouth of the goal ended with Chatrabgoon scoring from close range. Perspolis responded 10 minutes later when a deflected ball was hammered in by Aghaei from 20 yards out. Nikbakht-Vahedi found himself at the end of a cross by Zare and scored the winner in the 40th minute.

Perspolis, with 17 points, moved three points clear of Saba Battery at top of the table. On Friday Saba Battery is in Azadi Stadium facing Esteghlal. Pas remained in the 9th place, but will likely drop further in the standings after the completion of Round 7 matches on Friday.

In Round 8 Perspolis is at home hosting Zob Ahan, while Pas will travel to Rasht for an encounter with Pegah.
