(Irankicks) Esteghlal Tehran settled for a 1-1 draw against Saba Battery on Friday, and found itself down in the 9th spot in the table, the lowest position for the Blues in several seasons. On the other hand, Saba Battery, which until last week shared the top spot with Perspolis, could count itself lucky in Round 7 by earning a point against an often superior Esteghlal.

A rather dull and evenly matched game in the first half gave way to a more lively display by both sides in the second half, and within minutes of the re-start Saba Battery went ahead 1-0. A Kolahkaj corner kick in the 48th minute was headed in by Fazli, who had found the net empty after another blunder by Taleblou. Esteghlal players responded with a surge of attacks on the opposition goal and ten minutes later were rewarded for their effort. Mohammad Navazi, similar to many other occasions this season was the provider, and his free kick from 40 yards out eventually connected with Montazeri who headed in the equalizer.

With a point earned against Esteghlal, Saba Battery remained in the second spot with 15 points. In Round 8, Saba Battery is at home to Esteghlal Ahvaz. Esteghlal Tehran travels to Isfehan to face Sepahan.
