Mayelli Kohan!!!!!

Then you realise that this is exactly what they are doing.

The one person whom almost everyone knows is the wrong choice is selected to lead the team melli.

You don't need to know much about football to know that you can only go to the world cup and expect to come back with respectable results, with a world class coach. A failed coach in Asia is no replacement for Daei who has a much much stronger track record. We were thinking Hiddick/Ghotbi combination with internal coaches to form a coaching team that draws on the internal and external skills of our resources. They give us Mayelli Kohan!!!!!!

No it is not a bad dream. Our worst nightmare has happened.

Unless this mistake is reversed, the only thing that can carry us now, as always is a combination of individual skill, luck and gheyrat of our players to get us to the world cup and if it all goes our way we need god more than ever not to get hammered by everyone, once we are there.

My friend the problems is two things:

1) Money - Good coaches are not cheap and if IFF spends money on a coach who is going to support Hazbullah of lebanon?

2) Prestige - What good coach is going to ruin their reputation by leading a country that has been a supporter of terrorism and has commited crimes against humanity? Although many argue sports has nothing to do with politics I must say it does in a big way. There is no way you could convince Guss Hiddink or a coach of his caliber to come and lead Iran. Just like there is no way to convince a wolrd class team to do a friendly against Iran even if you pay them good. In case if others haven't noticed in the past many teams have changed their mind and did not play against Iran.

Great Taj Aziz,

I know there are many external issues but here lets just focus on Football and what can be done within the limitations that we have.
Many things are out of our reach or we have put them out of our own reach but whatever the case we can do much better than this. We just do not push our federation to use what is available to it.

We have the likes of Ghotbi with extremely valuable knowledge of football (and now first hand experience of Iranian football) and Korean football (two out of 3 of our key games to come). We have people with inside knowledge of Arab football and the likes of karimi who still scares the living daylights out of gulf footballers. We have a whole host of eastern European coaches who would work in Iran and we have many internal coaching talents that would serve us much better. We have many excellent internal players who never get a chance and we have many teams that would play us (Eastern European, African, South American).

But what do they do? They shut their eyes to all these possibilities because they can not see further than the end of their nose or anything other than their personal interests. They selct a coach because he would serve them best!!! Should we just shut up whilst they throw our hopes in the bin yet again?

IFF should be awarded. Yes it should. Not by us. By all other football federations in Asia. Because so far they have been the most effective blocker to Iranian Football and continue to boost the chances of other football federations in Asia to shine.

We will support TM whatever the case. We get hurt and annoyed because we care about TM. Time for us all to stop caring about ourselves and to do what is best for TM, irrespective of personal interests.

May our lion hearts give their best irrespective of what the incompetent federation does.

Long Live TM
Long live Iran
