Nasser Al Johar Resigns As Saudi Arabia Coach

Just three days after losing a vital 2010 World Cup qualifier in North Korea, Saudi Arabia boss Nasser Al-Johar has resigned.

The defeat left the Green Falcons with four points from four games in Group Two and in serious danger of missing out on the World Cup for the first time since 1990.

The Saudi Football Federation (SAFF) announced the news on Saturday, saying in a statement that it was Al Johar, who has been national team coach three times, who made the decision without any pressure from above.

The 65 year-old will continue working for the team in a role as technical advisor.

In his nine months in the job since replacing Helio Cesar dos Anjos, Al Johar led the team to the Gulf Cup final and defeat at the hands of Oman.

The new manís task will be to take the team to Tehran to face Iran on March 28.

Defeat in that match would almost certainly spell the end of Saudi hopes of automatic qualification.

Unquoted: KSA will have a lot of work to do before Iran's game for revitalizing their qualification hopes for the next wc

Fahd jan, I enjoyed your one on one conversation with yourslef. Any chance of round table discussion? :D jk ... interesting way of expressing yourself. I agree with most of your discussion. Al-Johar is a good transition coach that Saudi used while searching for a foreign coach. But for some reason they decided to give him a chance.

Translation-We Saudis do th same $hit over and over every world cup. We sack oru coach get another guy and we qualify, but this year it's going to be different. This year we know we suck and we won't even qualify as a 3rd place team.

Sincerely,

KSA Football federation.

It must be the hardest job to be the coach of Saudi Arabia. The Saudi FA would give you a squad of 30 players who have never been abroad or played against quality opposition and then blame you when you cant get them to perform at the proper level. They can make their stadiums out of gold and pay their players what they want but money cant buy footballing experience for the players. They have to go and get it.
