manif its a wig ;)

kouroshpersia, actually i just remembered that someone told me recently that the persian name for cyrus is actually SIROOS. kouroush is another name altogether.

now im not 100% certain whether its siroos or kouroush, but its one of them. iv never met anyone called siroos yet.

Siroos is the persian version of Greek Cyrus...Greeks called Koroush Kabir Cyrus the Great...It's like Perspolice which is the Perisan version of Greek Persepolis which itself is the Greek name for Takht Jamshid :) We have a bad tradition of coping the inproper pronunciation or our own names and verbs from other languages....for example sefid is actually sepid but since Arabs couldn't say P and said sefid we started saying sefid too..or Gosfand ( Gospand ) :D

Greeks don't have "SH", so they rename other nations names. Even Herodotus (Greek historian-300 B.C.) makes note of the fact that all Persian names end with "S" (when translated into Greek).

Blue I doubt Cyrus is the Greek version of Sirous. More likely Sirous comes from Cyrus.

It sounds true. Sounds very zoroastrian and for that it could of been shortened later on. Cyrus is the latin translation of the name Koroush. Cyrus in Persian is the same thing as Siroos but it did not have the reverse senario once turned into Latin from Persian. Arabs dont have 4 letters of A-B which we have in Persian.
